Why this site is about residence specifically

Search for Vanuatu residency and most results are about citizenship, because citizenship costs more and the firms writing the pages sell it. The two get blurred deliberately, and the blur is expensive for anyone who buys the wrong one.

This site covers residence: six categories, what each demands, what the Department publishes about fees and thresholds, and what happens when the basis for a visa stops being true. Where citizenship is genuinely the better answer — and for anyone who does not intend to live in Vanuatu it usually is — the comparison page says so plainly.

Where the figures come from

From the Department of Immigration and Passport Services. Certified monthly income of 250,000 vatu for a self-funded resident, or half a million including a spouse. A leasehold of at least ten million vatu for that category, with the income requirement alongside it. Visa fees of 2,880 vatu under eighteen, and from 57,600 vatu for one year to 511,200 vatu for ten above it.

Equally important is what we do not state. The Department publishes no investment amounts, no validity period and no renewal rules for the permanent residence investor subclasses. Numbers for those circulate widely and none of them is sourced to the Department, so this site describes the structure and directs you to ask.

What we do not claim

That an application will be granted — the Department decides. That residence produces a passport — it does not. That figures published today will hold next year — immigration rules move, and every page carries the date it was checked.
